About Us

A Promised Land Animal Rescue, Inc. was born out of one unforgettable moment. Our founder, Sonia Dalano, once looked into the eyes of a shelter dog and saw the sadness of dried tears staining its face. She could not shake the image, because of her foundation in Christ, she felt called to take action. What began with Sonia jumping into bushes behind stores to capture stray cats for spaying and neutering has grown into a movement that has saved over 10,000 cats and dogs since 2016. Many of those strays found healing, safety, and homes, and a few even became part of Sonia’s own family.

In the early days, Sonia was joined by her close friend Crystal, who became a loyal partner in their mission. Together, they laid the groundwork for what A Promised Land Animal Rescue has become today: a Christ-centered, foster-based rescue dedicated to protecting, restoring, and finding homes for animals in need.

We are different because we believe every life has purpose and value, and every adoption deserves thorough care and attention. Our animals are spayed or neutered, vetted, microchipped, vaccinated, and cared for in trusted foster homes or in adoption habitats at partner stores, including Petco, PetSmart, and Pet Supplies Plus. Adoptions are safe and solid, requiring applications, residence verification, background checks for prior animal-related charges, and thoughtful meet-and-greets with current pets. We walk alongside families with follow-up visits and aftercare, because adoption is the start of a lifelong bond.

Through the years, countless volunteers and foster families have joined this mission, giving their time, love, and homes to animals in need. Their dedication is the backbone of our rescue, and we are forever grateful for their impact.
